Season one: finding happiness and well-being through prayer, purpose, and people – coming soon.
After going through some challenging times and coming out stronger, I reflected on what things made me feel good; what were true sources of joy in my life; and what restored my own sense of well-being. That’s when I developed my 3 P’s: prayer, purpose, and people.
Prayer
This is my faith, my spirituality, encompassed in my five obligatory daily prayers, my fervent and heartfelt duas, and filling the spaces of my days with thikr. Reading Quran, praying tahajjud, and striving to follow the sunnah also strengthen my spiritual backbone. Faith is my foundation.
Purpose
So many things in my life give me purpose: raising my children, caring for people as a physician, and working to better my community. But I never realized the true impact of living with purpose until I volunteered overseas and connected with people who are suffering. Relief work really honed my sense of purpose and helped me live more intentionally on a daily basis. Being in the service of others gives life joy and meaning on a different level.
People
My relationships with family and friends give me true joy. I am grateful to have my parents nearby, to love and honor them. I am enjoying befriending my children in their young adulthood. And I have an amazing group of friends with diverse backgrounds, interests, and passions who fill my life with laughs, love, support, reflection, and memorable shared experiences. It is through my people that I see a reflection of myself.
